The flag of Russia
Russia is a country located in Europe & Asia, known for the biggest country.
Russia stretches across two continents, eastern Europe and northern Asia. It borders 14 countries, including Norway, China and Mongolia, and its far eastern tip is just a few kilometers across the sea from Alaska. Most of Russia's land is a huge cold forest called the taiga, and a frozen plain called the tundra in the far north.
Russia is home to Lake Baikal, the deepest and oldest lake in the world, and to the Trans-Siberian Railway, the longest railway line on Earth. The first person to travel into space, Yuri Gagarin, was from Russia. It is also famous for ballet, nesting dolls called matryoshka, and grand palaces in St. Petersburg.
