Vroom! Meet the Bullet Train.
A Bullet Train is a super-fast train, famous for zooming passengers between cities at incredible speed.
A bullet train is a high-speed electric train. It gets power from wires above the track, and its long, pointed nose slices through the air so it wastes less energy pushing air out of the way. The tracks have very gentle curves and no road crossings, so the train can keep going fast without stopping.
You can ride bullet trains between big cities in Japan, China, France, Spain and other countries. People often choose them instead of flying for trips of a few hundred miles, because the station is right in the city center and there is no long airport security line.
What is the main job of a Bullet Train?
Have children race toy trains and talk about why the bullet train's pointed front helps it move so fast.
Draw a bullet train with a pointed front zooming between two cities, and talk about why it needs special smooth tracks.
