Meet the helpers at the airport!
The Airport is where pilots and airport workers work to help planes take off, land, and carry passengers safely.
At the airport, you will find pilots and airport workers. Their important job is to help planes take off, land, and carry passengers safely.
When you fly, you first check in and drop off big bags, which travel on moving belts to the right plane. Then everyone goes through security, where bags pass through an X-ray machine. At the gate, you wait to board, and through the big windows you can watch baggage carts, fuel trucks and planes taxiing to the runway. Many airports have viewing areas where families can watch planes take off.
What do the helpers at the Airport do?
Build a pretend airport out of blocks with a runway, and let children take turns being the pilot, passenger, and air traffic controller.
Pack a small pretend suitcase together, talk about what a passenger needs for a trip, and talk about why bags get checked for safety before flying.
Pilots fly planes, workers help passengers, controllers guide planes.
So planes have room to speed up and slow down safely.
Guide planes safely in the sky and on the ground.
To make sure everyone on the plane stays safe.
