Meet the amazing Mango Tree!
The Mango Tree is a large fruit tree.
A mango tree grows from a big flat seed inside the mango stone. It grows a long taproot that reaches deep for water, and a wide, leafy crown that gives lots of shade. In the dry season, it is covered with clusters of tiny flowers, and insects carry pollen between them. Each flower that is pollinated can grow into a mango, which takes about three to five months to ripen.
Mango trees first grew in South Asia, and India still grows more mangoes than any other country. Today they also grow in Mexico, Thailand, Indonesia, Brazil and parts of Africa. People eat mangoes fresh, in juices and smoothies, in chutneys and pickles, and the trees give cool shade in hot villages and towns.
Where does the Mango Tree usually grow?

Save a mango seed after eating the fruit and talk about how, with the right warm climate, it could one day grow into a tall tree.
