Discover the Voice Assistant!
A Voice Assistant is used for listening to your voice and helping answer questions or control devices.
A voice assistant is always listening for one special word, like its name. When it hears it, it records your question and sends it over the internet to powerful computers. They turn your speech into text, work out what you mean, find an answer and send it back to be spoken out loud, all within a second or two.
Voice assistants are built into smart speakers, phones, TVs and many cars. People use them to set timers while cooking, play songs, check the weather and turn lights on and off. Grown-ups can switch off the microphone with a button when they want privacy.

If you have a voice assistant at home, ask it a simple question together and talk about how it uses AI to understand you.
It waits for a special wake word.
It uses artificial intelligence.

Just like talking to a friend.
Asking it a question, practicing a wake word, drawing a listening speaker, or coloring a printable worksheet.
