Discover the Monitor!
A Monitor is used for showing pictures, videos, and words from a computer.
A monitor shows pictures using millions of tiny dots called pixels. Each pixel is made of three even smaller lights, red, green and blue, and by mixing them at different brightness it can make almost any color. The computer tells every pixel what color to show, and updates them about 60 times or more every second, so pictures look smooth and moving.
Monitors sit on desks at home, at school and in offices. You will also see big monitors at airports showing flight times, in hospitals showing a patient's heartbeat and in TV studios. Some people use two monitors side by side so they can see more at once.
